Westfield-Washington Historical Society, Inc. was formed in 1995 and incorporated as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation on October 1, 1997, with its registered office at 130 Penn Street, Westfield, IN   46074-0103.

Purpose:  To collect, catalog, preserve and display artifacts of historical significance to Westfield, Indiana, and to collect, catalog, preserve and make available for research printed, written and photographic materials and paintings of historical significance to the town.  In addition, the Society will make use of its resources to educate its members and the residents of the county concerning its heritage through publications, displays, programs, tours, seminars, historical markers and educational activities within the public and private schools.

2008: The first museum open in the town's old Fire Station/City Hall with the help of a grant from Visit Hamilton County.

June 10, 2017:  A grand opening for a new museum in the upstairs of the old Methodist Church/current City Hall building at 130 Penn St.

June 3, 2023:  A grand opening for the reconstructed 1835 Barker Cabin just east of City Hall.
