We had our wonderful Grand Opening Celebration on June 3rd 2023 in combination with the Hamilton County Bicentennial month for Washington Township. We will post more pictures about it on our Museum Software Collections Website, but here the big moment of the opening!
The 1835 Barker Family Log Cabin is open when the Museum is open, which is Saturdays from Noon - 4pm, and also by appointment. School groups can be accommodated by appointment as well.
Previous President Diana Peyton did a wonderful job not just on the reconstruction of the cabin but also documenting EVERY STEP of the project. It went fast and took much of her time working with many volunteers in the historical society. Most of the progress was documented on our Facebook page here: Facebook Album There is a book in the museum showing the project, details and many photos.
A timelapse video of the cabin being dismantled. This happened on January 28, 2020. This cabin had been protected inside a large barn for decades. We were in a bit of a rush to have it taken down since the developers gave us just a limited number of days to get it done, but helped us immensely finishing the task, along with a lot of volunteers.
