Happy New Year!

There are going to be some big life changes for me in 2019 and I am looking forward to all of them. One I am honored and looking forward to be President of the Society next year. My hope is to concentrate on the Society and do the best I can do. Please bear with me because I’m sure I will stumble, fall and stumble again so I will really need all your help. I’ve watched those that came before me and appreciate their commitment and hard work, I hope I can, if only in a small way, compare.

I am very excited to have Steve Osborne as Vice President. He is so committed and he along with Linda do an outstanding job and can always be counted on. Linda was nominated for Secretary next year. She has always done a good job at taking the minutes. Michael is taking the Archivist again and I just can’t say enough about him promoting the Society. He is always on our Facebook page and does a great job. Terry and Becky are always there to help also. Terry was nominated to be Treasurer again next year. They spend a lot of time keeping the museum open along with Rachel, Susan, Becky, Helen and Jeff. Curt, Bruce, Lonnie and Jim are always helping with anything that needs to be done. Curt is our Construction Manager. Jim was nominated for programming for 2019. A huge thanks to Bruce for all your hard work with programs this year. His job has taken him out of town and he has worked diligently on our programs. This is not an easy job. It’s difficult to get presenters, get the room and be prepared in case something happens and they don’t show up. Tom Roberts was nominated as Recorder. The Board Members includes: Helen, Lonnie, Becky, Susan, Bruce, Rachel, Jeff and Doug. Whew! What a group of great workers. I appreciate everything you do! Paula and Rachel are jointly doing membership. They are very valued members that help a lot. Teri D was helping us with the newsletter in 2018 before her work took a lot of her time away. We will work on the Newsletter jointly in 2019 but always are open for submissions of members from the community! I sincerely hope I’ve not left anyone out.

I have listed the dates of our meetings so you can mark your calendars. I’m hoping for a great year, hoping to get our membership built up and hoping we all can enjoy together our passion for collecting, preserving and protecting our historic items.

Diana Peyton 2019 President Westfield Washington Historical Society & Museum

PS: To my family’s disbelief, I found a space on my tree for the beautiful Christmas ornaments that were gifted to me from Becky and Terry Carrithers. Thank you both! They are beautiful and the chest looks great under my tree. Michael Kobrowski won the Christmas tree and Terry won the beautiful chest of ornaments at our Holiday Dinner. The chest and ornaments were part of the WWHS raffle and were donated to the raffle by Stephanie Marshall & Rich Marshall! Thank you! Thanks to all that came and brought the yummy food. A special thanks to Linda for her hard work setting up and working in the kitchen. She was the first to be there and the last to leave. What a great group we have!!!!
